LAS VEGAS (Jan. 21, 2026)–The Women’s SNGA Team Play series, which made its debut in the late 1990s, will again showcase the top women’s clubs in Southern Nevada as the 2026 season got under way the week of Jan. 19. The series features 19 teams playing for three team titles. The squads will tee it up on 16 golf courses, private and public, in and around Las Vegas.–by Bill Bowman, Las Vegas Golf Insider staff

Brooke Hempel, Team Play co-coordinator, said the interest in the series has been impressive.

“The ladies really like to play team play,” Hempel said. “I know I do. It’s more than just playing golf…it’s the team aspect, the camaraderie and getting to meet other players from other clubs.”

Hempel added having teams from Mesquite and Pahrump involved is also a plus.

“I know it’s hard for them to travel to come here and play as often as they do and that makes their interest that much more impressive,” she said. “They sometimes make a trip out of it by coming here a day early to play a practice round and just make it a nice couple of days.”

As for the team play itself, Hempel said it’s opened the eyes of some players who might have been reluctant to play in a team series.

“In the past, we’ve had some ladies who just weren’t sure about this type of play,” she said. “But then they find out you’ve got a partner and that it’s not always on you, they become a little less intimidated. If you’re interested in checking it out, you’ve just got to come out and see if it’s something you like and go from there. And they need to remember that you don’t have to play perfect golf on every hole…that’s where it’s great that we all have a partner.”

In the end, the teams will be battling for one of three crowns: Overall, Gross and Net.

“It’s interesting to see how teams approach their play,” Hempel said. “Some of the teams will have overall as a goal while others may take a wait and see how they are playing and go from there. It all depends on the teams and players.”

The teams will be taking aim at last year’s champions: Business Women (Overall), DragonRidge (Gross) and Mountain Falls (Net). Those three teams claimed titles in the finale which was played last June.

As in recent seasons, the teams are split into two divisions, Blue and Red. Teams in each division will compete against each other for the chance for the Overall, Gross and Net winners in each division to meet in the finale. The finale will be held May 21, 2026, at the Arroyo Golf Club.
