Brooke Hempel, Team Play co-coordinator, said it was quite the season for the women’s teams.
“The competition was just so good this year,” she said. “We (Los Prados) just barely got into the playoffs and then today it came down to our last match. If we had won, we would have had to have done a tie-breaker. We tied the hole so we lost but it was just that close. It was just a great year competition-wise for many of the teams.”
Overall-Business Women vs. Chimera Red
Business Women won the Overall crown for the third straight time, winning the gross portion of the event 8-4 while the teams tied in the net scoring, 4-4.
That gave the Business Women a 12-8 victory over Chimera Red.
It was also the Business Women’s fifth win in the last six years.
Christine Soscia, team captain, said it’s getting tougher and tougher to win.
“There’s such great competition,” she said. “In fact, our season came down to the last match on Monday. We were only three points ahead (of Chimera Black) and had to play them to see what title we would be playing for. We had to grind Monday and then grind today in the final. It’s just getting harder because there are such great golfers in Southern Nevada.”
Soscia said the team is used to the pressure that being a defending champion entails.
“Before the season, I had a few people say ‘we are coming after you,’ ” she said. “And I knew they meant it. It’s a long season and we just tried to play to the best of our ability every match. It really tested us.”
Soscia said the team just seems to come together every year.
“We had three rookies this year and they stepped right in,” she said. “We know it’s a long season and we just went out every week trying to do our best knowing other teams want to beat us.”
Soscia said now comes the fact more targets will be on their backs after winning for the third straight year.
“A four-peat would be great,” she said with a laugh. “But it’s certainly not going to be easy. Like I said, the women’s golf scene is getting much more impressive all the time.”
Members of the winning Business Women’s team included: Brittany Bronson, Cristy Esposo, Chin Yim, Karen Huckabay, Theresa Summers, Linda Berardo, Christine Soscia and Lisa Wiley.
Gross-Boulder City Dam Steady vs. Los Prados
The Gross title went to Boulder City Dam Steady as they posted a 7-5 victory over Los Prados.
Ronda Henderson, co-captain of Boulder City Dam Steady along with Rhonda Sledge, said the win was impressive considering how this team was put together.
“We merged the teams, the names and the co-captains,” Henderson said. “Rhonda Sledge was captain of the Boulder City Dam team and I was captain of the Boulder City Rock Steady team. We merged into Boulder City Dam Steady and were off and running.”
The transition had its challenges.
“As happens when you transition, it took a little while for us to figure everything out,” Henderson said. “But the ladies really came together as a team and it showed.”
Henderson said teaming up the partners was a challenge.
“We had some bumps in the road,” Henderson said. “We had players who hadn’t played with players before but we got everything smoothed out and obviously we wound up playing great.”
Henderson said the 2026 season was one to remember.
“Regardless of what happened today, this was just a great year,” she said. “The outcome today wouldn’t have affected the fact we had a great year. The win is just a cherry on top.”

Mountain Falls won the Net title for the second straight year, beating Spanish Trail, 8-4.

Theiler said the team’s regular season matches were the key.
“All season, each of our matches was tough,” she said. “We’ve been persevering all year and it paid off. The team just did wonderful.”
Theiler added the final score, 8-4, wasn’t indicative of how close the match with Spanish Trail was.
“Three of the four matches could have gone either way,” she said. “They were tough matches. We were getting beat early in all three matches and then turned it around. That was pretty good.”
What does the team do for an encore after two straight titles?
“When you win one, you feel very lucky,” Theiler said. “We went into this year with the same thoughts. I tried to keep it light and not put pressure on them. I just told them not to worry…just go out and do your best and have fun. Winning was just the icing on the cake of a great year. We’ll probably look at the same approach next year.”
